The situation unfolded when the woman insisted that her daughter needed to lie down on the lower berth, while another passenger claimed his right to sit there as per railway rules. According to the Indian Railways’ berth-sharing guidelines, passengers occupying upper berths are entitled to use half of the lower berth for sitting between 6 AM and 10 PM.
